Join me as I share my personal journey with depression, highlighting the challenges I faced and the strategies that helped me find hope. Let's break the silence surrounding mental health and support each other in the fight against depression.
Hi All,
Today, I wanted to open up about my personal journey with depression. It's a topic that may be seen as taboo, but I believe it's important to break the silence and speak our truths.
I have been in some very dark places on many occasions and attempted suicide a couple of times.
Depression can make you feel like you're drowning in a sea of darkness, with no hope of ever finding the light. It affects our emotions, our thoughts, and even our physical health. But please know, beautiful souls, you are not alone in this battle, I still have depressive moments today after many years suffering and being on medication.
For me, acknowledging my depression was the first step towards healing. It took some time to come to terms with it, but I have learnt that seeking help and support is crucial. Never underestimate the power of talking to trusted friends, family, or professionals or sometimes a complete stranger who can lend an empathetic ear or offer guidance. Remember, asking for help does not make you weak, it makes you brave.
I also discovered the importance of self-care,it's okay to put yourself first and prioritize your mental health. Find activities that help lift your spirits, whether it's indulging in a book, going for a walk in nature, baking your favorite treats, or simply doing the things you love like for me is music. Giving yourself permission to relax and recharge is a vital part of the healing process.
I lost my mother 3 years ago and the depressive thoughts came back, she was my best freind and I thought I couldnt go on and I remember mother saying i dont want you sad i want you to be happy. so with time and help I became happier and managed to look forward.
Reading self help books and Videos has been part of my recovery as well as the medication and the love and support of freinds, family, professionals and the complete stranger that listens and understands. I currently have and use my white board everyday and High 5 myself in the mirror each day.
My white board has stop thinking bad thoughts cause where is the evidence ? I've learnt over many years that all I'm doing is going round in circles with the bad thoughts and realising its not happening its me creating it in my mind also counting 5 4 3 2 1 slowly backwards helps get rid of the thoughts when you have bad thoughts.
I am currently reading a book called stop thinking and start living which explains about your thoughts and that they are holding you back also put yourself in uncomfartable positions helps you become more comfortable and you have just learnt something new.
Lastly, please remember to be kind to yourself throughout this journey. Depression is not a sign of weakness but rather a reminder of our inherent strength and resilience. Reach out to your loved ones, educating them about mental health, and together we can create a safe and understanding circle that supports and uplifts one another.
Please if any one is suffering or knows of someone suffering with depression please get help as there is a better place cause I have found it and never thought I would as I thought it never exitsted but thankfully i was wrong and that good place i have finaly found. It does take time so just hang in there
.
Im here if anyone wants a chat that needs help or support through your struggles.I may not have been to all the places some of you may have been but I will be that ear that listens and will try and help you.through your battles..
.
Remember, you are you,you are unique, and you are brave, you are beautiful, and you are not alone, you are deserving of love and happiness. Let's continue to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and share our experiences, because together, we are stronger. #FightInSilenceNoMore #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone
Sending you all virtual hugs and love,
Ozzie
